Llama on a Hot Apartment Fire

It seemed too much of a coincidence to really be one. At least, that's what Greta's instinct had been telling her as she attended the press conference regarding the fire at renowned radio host, Dunena Reid's apartment. Llama hoofprints? Cigarettes? No this was not a coincidence. Not after the chance meeting that had occurred just a few weeks ago in Central Park. Yes, the llamas were there. Yes, it was strange and yes, Dunena had given one of them a cigarette which immediately dropped to the floor. Of course, it did not surprise Greta to hear the two radio shows that immediately followed the fire. What did surprise her, however, was the strange anonymous phone calls that came into both shows. It was the same person both times, of that Greta was sure.

This was why, in spite of the oppressive heat that seemed to have settled on Manhattan lately, Greta was entering the burned out remains of Dunena Reid's former residence, planning to poke around and take photos of anything that seemed to be out of the ordinary. Her instincts told her there was more to this story than already revealed. She wasn't expecting anyone else to show up there since the investigation had officially been closed.

A Very up set and high dunena reid was walking up the stairs to his penthouse apparent to see if there was anything he could save from the house fire that the whole world now believed was set by llamas smoking Llamas all because of that Greta greenwich
Dunena muttered some rather unflattering things about her and stomped up the stairs.

It was a risk coming here to get things he was in hiding with Bill and Ted (the Llamas) but he need to see if any of his stash had served and a change of clothes if there were any and well he just wanted to see how bad the damage was.
His father had sent him a howler about his apparent fire asking what he had done to burn down his home and why did he let the llamas in the house Blah blah

dunena tried to tell him that Llamas were not in the house he was not even in the house when it was burning he was in the park at Bill and Ted ( the Llamas) Place he got a cell phone call from the Muggle fire department telling him that he was loosing everything and now dunena was coming to try and get his stuff but amy be some evidence to prove that the Ministry was trig to shut him up

Dunena trip on a step and fall in to the wall.
"Crap" he drunkly mumbled Dunena pulled his elbow out of the hole in the wall he had made.
He stumbled up to the landing on the floor were his home was.
He push open the brown remains of the door
"What The Hell are you doing here" Dunena said as he saw that dam greta greenwich what was left of his Home.

Carefully, Greta began walking through the parlor area, slowly, scanning the floor for anything that might seem not to belong there. Well, anything that might not seem to belong there besides the llama hoofprints that were scattered through the debris. Like the turquoise strand of hair she spotted, so bright it stood out against the charred remains of the sofa back. Greta took out her wand and a small plastic ziplock bag and with a quick spell, the strand floated into the bag. Sealing it, Greta shoved it into her purse she had with her and, keeping the wand out cast another spell on the sofa. While it couldn't tell her what spell was used, it did tell her other magic had been used on that furniture rather recently.

Stepping carefully over a chandelier that had landed on the floor, Greta looked at one of the hoofprints and took out her phone to take a photo of it. She would compare it with other llama prints later. She was about to continue in the direction the print indicated when a cheerful familiar voice greeted her from the doorway. "Nice to see you again, too," she commented, dryly. "Not afraid the assassin will return? And I'm working," she added in response to his question.

Dunena was still shocked to see greta then she men tan the assassin Dunena jumped grabbed his wand and glancing around looking r the assassin
"where i kill him" Dunena said thro this frantic active
"this is my house or was" Dunena al most yells at greta dunena takes his first real look around his home and see that some one has left llama stuff all over the place

"i have to find out who did this" dunena said to hime self forgetting in his high and drunken state that greta was there
Dunena could see what was left of the family pictures on what was once a hard wood with glass doors side board in the open plan living space. dunena starred at the deviation for sometime unable to understand why they had done this to him. All he wanted to do was live a good life ad tell the world stories about goad god man why did the MOM have to be so open with there dirty dealing so open that even he could see the underhandness of it all
"why did i say any thing at all" he shock his head as he spoke with some tears in his eyes

Had she thought about it, Greta would have probably refrained from asking Dunena Reid if he was afraid the assassin would return because of the concern he'd panic and think the killer was there. Oddly enough, she did not think about it, asked it and had that exact result as suddenly, the WWBN Radio host was panicking and waving his wand around. "Calm down, Mr. Cool," she said though remaining at the ready to cast a counterspell should he suddenly start throwing spells around himself. "And yeah, I'd go with the 'was' your house concept. Looks like this is beyond repair, at least by Muggle standards and obviously, the Ministry is not going to let magic be used since it would require tons of explaining?"

"So you believe the llamas are innocent?" she asked, curious as to what he might say that could give a lead to possible reasons for this happening, or even who might have done it. As for his next words, anyone else might have thought he meant his comment about finding out who did this, but for Greta, it struck a note of familiarity as a reporter. "Well, if you're really interested in telling the news like it is, because you really have something that is worth getting out there at any cost. So who do you think is involved and why?" she asked him.

Dunena ignored the 'mr cool' remark and when she asked if he believed his Llamas were innocent
"Yes they are i was with them at there place when i got the muggles call about the fire" Dunena defended Bill and Ted ( the Llamas)
"I don't know who did do I, that why i am here that why i took the risk and came here" Dunena amost yelled at her. dunena took a few moments to crammed down and think it thro he know she was asking coz she cared
"i think was some one who knows me and works for one of the misters i outed as sell out this week for sell out wizard kind"
"I mean that have to know me or how else would they know to blame Bill and ted ( the Llamas) for the fire" Dunena despite being drunk and high he was working the problem well like a reported or some one who know something about finding answers
"all i have to do is fine some evidence to know which one of those loser did this to me" Dunena was quite mad about this and really was hopping that with greta help he might find the answer he needs
"if you help you can have the buylines i really don't care i just want the truth and the idort that did this" dunena hoped that by offering the buy line she might be willing to help she had more skills in this integrative stuff that he did But he would never tell here that in so many words.

Sometimes it was not hard to tell when someone was lying and the reverse of that was also true. It was not hard to tell when someone was being quite truthful with you sometimes. This was one of those times and Greta was fairly sure that Dunena had been exactly where he just said, with the llamas in Central Park. Besides the fact she had seen him that afternoon with them there and he had gone on about not being able to have them in his apartment, Greta had also heard from her associate in Australia about his adventure with Dunena Reid and the creatures at the Victorian Ministry.

"Well, I believe you, Mr. Reid, so you don't have to shout," she told him, adding, "However, anyone who knew you in Victoria and would know about them too which means the information about you having them is out there. Which means its a very wide field of people who wanted this done. The smaller group is people capable of actually carrying this out," Greta told him as they looked around the apartment. Sure, she could have told him about the small bag in her pocket with the hair in it but for now, the less who knew the better it was.

She raised an eyebrow at his offering her the byline. "Really, since I work for your employer's competitor, I really don't think byline will be an issue," she reminded him, "However, I will help you but not because of they byline. Because this don't feel right and I want to find out the truth."

Dunena was thinking quite hard about what Greta had said about Victoria and people there knowing about Bill and Ted ( the Llamas). He after all had received them form the VMOM Mad Science Department. "Well, there is that," Dunena said as he kept listening. "I don't care about competition right now. I have to clear Bill and Ted's names. Did you know that animal control or some such thing the Muggles have want to take them away. They say it wrong or some thing to kept them, or dangerous. I don't know. I wasn't listening that closely but any way, must keep them safe. They're my friends." Dunena was very upset at the idea that someone would take his Llamas away from him. A tear welled in his eye.

" Yes, yes, truth. Must find it. You know, there some aurors that can do this and a select Hit squad within the ministry that take care of problems for the ministry, like me. But they can't kill me cause I have a security plan to expose them. So its about discrediting them before they kill me."

Dunena looked around wand still in hand. "So, this was my lounge/kitchen area. I wonder if my bedroom looks any better?" Dunena asked her. He started walking in the direction of the far end to start looking around for clues.

"I'm aware they can take the animals away. If they're not being cared for properly and, currently, with what little they have to go on, its apparently the way they see it. For now, have you got them hidden well?" she asked him, knowing the Muggles could try to find them but with the right spells, the llamas would stay hidden. Since it seemed they were the best friends that Dunena currently seemed to have, it was important to keep him focused on hiding them.

Greta was aware of the work some aurors did and of the hit squads, though she thought they seemed to have become quieter since the second wizarding war. Of course, that didn't mean they wouldn't be sent out after people but it did make her wonder what exactly Dunena had on the Ministry if they had indeed gone to such lengths. She nodded as he explained what the room they were in served as and when he asked about the bedroom, shrugged. "I had not gotten that far yet. Why don't you check that and I'll see what I can find here?" she suggested as he was already heading that way. In the meantime, she began her search by taking a photo of the llama hoofprints she had seen as well as once again charming a bit of the carpet containing one of the prints into a small bag to exam closely later.

Dunena walked into his bedroom and saw the complete devastation that the fire had left and, even in this drunk and high state, it almost reduced him to tears. All the photos and awards, the ones he had earned for years of service to both the American and Australian ministries, he hated that they had done this to him. "Why?" he whispered to the room as he sat or fell onto what was left of his bed. I can't believe this. I lost every thing." Dunena let a single tear roll down his face. It was then he noticed something on the floor. It was a sparkling something and
he dropped to the floor and crawled over to it. "I've got some thing, Greta" Dunena yelled to the other room. He picked it up and began to examine it. Dunena knew this was not from his wardrobe

Greta was continuing her search when she heard the emotional upheaval from Dunena. She debated consoling him but decided in his current state of inebriation it might be better to just let him come to terms with it himself. Eventually, it would be seen that perhaps not everything was a loss, somethings could be cleaned and salvaged, but it was clear that even that was more than should have been. For now, she concentrated on searching the kitchen until she heard him call for her and this time, she went to see for the tone of his voice had changed and it seemed he found something. Something sparkling apparently. Looking at what he was holding, she nodded. "Well, unless one of your harem lost it here, this could be a clue," she agreed.

Dunena was shocked. He didn't have a harem and wondered where people get those ideas. It's not like he made a habit of going out in public and most certainly not with women. They just moon at him and they don't talk to him. They just pretend to care and waant him for something because of his power position that he was in when he was at the ministry. Now they waited to be seen with the Number One radio personality, not him, but greta was here to help him.

"I don't have a harem. Women never come back here," Dunena told Greta. "It would make my father happy if Ihad a lady friend. He wants to marry me off, he does. That's how I ended back in New York" Dunena gave a half smile. "You're the first woman to come to my home," Dunena told her. Dunena put the sparkling item in the palm of his hand and offered it to her. "It looks like it off a necklace or maybe a dress," Dunena said to her. "What do you think?" Dunena asked her. Dunena wondered what Greta really thought of him.

"Sorry," Greta apologized for her sarcasm. "Guess I shouldn't go by the gossip column photos in the other papers."While not much of Dunena's reputation from Australia had returned with him, images over the years of him out and about at various Ministry functions and events had usually involved him with various females accompanying him. She turned her attention instead to the object he held and the thoughts he offered on it. Pointing to the bent hook at the one end of it, she commented. "It's an earring, and from the looks of it, real diamonds," she commented as she took it from him and held it so it dangled. It was definitely well made and if not real a very good set of manmade diamonds. "Look familiar to you at all? Anyone you can remember who might have worn it when you were out that evening?" While he may not have brought anyone back to the apartment, Greta suspected whoever had been here could have made sure he was gone first by being where he was supposed to go.

Dunena was still looking at the shiny object when he noticed that he and Greta were really close and this for a man who wanted no attachments could be bad, and it had been a long time, so like most drunk men his body was already reacting already. It really had been a long time. Dunena just realized that she had been talking something about diamonds. Dunena cleared his throat and stepped back. "Right yep, nope, never seen it before all though someone will be looking for it, so maybe if we wait the person might come back," Dunena wanted to take back the bit about stay together, as he was really sure that if they stayed, he would probably do something dumb and she would end up hating him, or worse she might like him, and then what would he do? He might have to call her and stuff. No way "Um, so we need to get this worked out and who did this.?" Dunena said as he put some more distance between them and tried to get his body under control. He really need a hit, a really big hit

Of course, Greta was completely unaware of any 'difficulties' Dunena Reid might be having at the moment considering her thoughts were solely on the story at hand and finding answers to what could have happened. "They might return," She said, in response to Dunena's suggestion of waiting for the return of the earrings owner, "Or, they might just consider it a loss and not. I'd like to take it with me and see if I can get it traced back to the jeweler who sold it," Greta told him, looking around the room to see if there was anything else that might be a clue, still unaware of Dunena's 'personal issues' that were occurring. "If you could make a list of any possible enemies and email it to me, it would be a start," she told him as she waited to see if he would let her take the earring with her.

Dunena was still trying to walk off his hard on when she began asking if she could take the evidence away with her to find out were it came from. All Dunena wanted was for all this feeling to go away so that he could go back to his empty and completely smashed life with no real responsibility but somehow all the blood in his body was rushing to his lower.. Well that does not matter.


"Yep, sure, you can take it, you can take me to." Dunena really did not mean to say that last part. He was not really into getting involved with women. It meant that he would have to be responsible and they tried to change things, get him clean and to be normal and like, have a life.
Dunena was sure he had to get out of here all this stuff was making him feel strange and somewhat needy. "Well, umm, I got to get back to the boys. They need something called ruff age and wood chip floor need to be cleaned. Those muggles are very strange "

Dunena fiddled with his hands and made for the door out of his room. "I think we should, umm, yea a list I can do that, yep, list," Dunena yelled back through the wall. "Like list, I do. Gotta go, bye," Dunena scurried out of the apartment to go back to Bill and Ted (the llamas).

"Just the earring," she responded to Dunena's offer, resisting the urge to groan at his words. Yep, sure he was changing or not the playboy that they made him out to be. Absolutely. You could tell that by his comment.... Not. Figuring the boys were the llamas, she nodded and without knowing why, added. "Yes, well, I have an appointment. I'm supposed to meet Nath... Mr. Wright. I really don't want to be late." Why she said that, Greta had no idea as she had not spoken to DJ Noiseworks, as she usually thought of him prior to meeting him, since the chance meeting of the three of them in the park. She had planned to just say she had an interview appointment but her words seemed to tumble out without her permission. Maybe she needed to really interview the artist for a column. Sure that was why she had him on her mind Greta decided. All of these thoughts were happening just as quickly as getting the words out did.

"Okay," she called back as the apartment's owner seemed to be in a rush to leave. Once he was gone, Greta looked around for a few more moments, making sure she had the earring and the other clues she had found tucked safely away before apparating out of the apartment and back to her office.
