Such a Contrast in the Dark and the Light

She sat at the outdoor table located at the farthest corner from the entrance, the cigarette held between her fingers as she perused the files she had brought with her. Occasionally, she would reach over and make notations on the iPad screen into a document she had open on it. Victoria had listened to the radio broadcast on WWBN that led to Dunena Reid's announcement about his protest rally this coming Tuesday night. The timing had been perfect, if not for Dunena's goals, definitely for hers. There was so much she could do with this event to further her plans.
There were some additional documents she needed to have delivered to Mr. Reid from his Smoking Joe informant, herself. Not that Dunena knew she was his Smoking Joe though Victoria often wondered what he would say had Mr. Reid known she was the founder of SmokingLlama.com after pinning the 'Smoking Joe' name on the 'man' who had been phoning him and delivering documents to the broadcaster.
She allowed herself a sly smile as she thought about the device she used to change her voice at will for phone calls. Yes, she definitely had an app for that, too bad Victoria had no plans to share it with IT developers. It was hers and hers alone for as long as she could keep it secret and considering the things the woman had kept secret for years, well, it was not that difficult.
Victoria continued to sip her coffee, black, triple shot, as she quietly and discreetly made arrangements for the rally that would be coming up. First on her list was Marty. Dear, sweet, boring, obedient, loyal Marty. Of course, he'd probably spiral into depression if he heard her description of him but she had chosen him for those traits as well as his forensic abilities, his determination to see a job through properly and his accuracy in his results. She did appreciate the fact that his reports were concise and honest, lending much credulity and respect to SmokingLlama.com's reports and articles. She appreciated that almost as much as she appreciated the fact that should Marty disappear, no one would either notice or miss him. Not that she needed to use that fact yet but there would come a time one day. For now, he was her top employee.
She was going to assign Marty to watch at the rally and make notes for her on what went on, not that she wouldn't know herself but she wanted an unbiased (well, except for the part about he truly believed magic did not exist) view of it. A sly smirk appeared on the director's face as she took a drag on her cigarette. Depending on Marty's report and how well the rally went, there was the excellent possibility of Smoking Joe manipulating the outburst of another rally at the French Ministry. Victoria was sure Monsieur Benoit would just adore that.
