Fifi had long grown tired of the sight of the green walls of her cell by the time one of the policemen arrived holding a package and looking like he'd just seen a ghost. Two hours later she stepped out of the station to a flutter of camera shots, the badge of the head constable clipped to her belt and long wanted cigarette between her lips. No amount of apologise was going to make up for what had happened yesterday, and Fifi was downright furious that Nicci had left her locked up overnight.. no doubt he'd been off romancing that Cherry from WWBN while she'd been left to strew in a cell that smelt disturbingly of disinfectant. Her outfit had as always been chosen for effect and she could see Nicci's hand in it. The red heels she'd swapped with one of the female officers and so with her hands held up with 'no comments' Fifi pushed though the press and into the awaiting automobile that would take her home to the consulate.
Nicci no doubt would be waiting for her. No doubt he'd smile and hug her tight, glad to see that she was well against all that had happened. Right up until they where alone and he started asking questions that Fifi didn't want to answer. Frankly she didn't think he deserved anything after what he had done as was obvious as she stormed right past him and into the lift, pressing the button to the top floor just to separate herself from the people down below. In a way she was sick of America but the thought of returning to France was no less comforting. Nicci at least would be polite enough to leave her be, he knew as well as she did that sometimes she needed to be alone, right now she wanted nothing more then to never see him again.
So it was for the next two days Fifi didn't leave the apartment, she smoked, re-read the fashion magazines, sliced at her hair and then regrew it back with magic trying to decide just where she stood and what she would do to get out of this mess. She hated herself, hated the world and hated Nicci.. Nicci who would no doubt be off laughing and smiling on the arm of Cherry. Fifi didn't blame the women at all, Nicci was charming, powerful and everything a woman might want. Their relationship was open to a degree where neither where left all that surprised at each others conquests. Indeed it seemed almost a competition at some times to push one another to feel something, some hint of rage or jealousy at the others actions. Sex in itself didn't matter but it was his insistence on knowing everything she did and everywhere she went, sometimes making Fifi feel more like a pet or a prisoner of him then cared for. Fifi wasn't foolish enough to think that Nicci loved her, she knew one day her actions would grow too much for Nicci to put up with and she'd be quietly done away with.
What she hadn't expected was how soon or quickly that could happen. On the third day the door of her room was forced open. Fifi had been sitting on the windows ledge, a cigarette between her fingers as she lazily looked down on the little people below.
"You look like shit*" The words hung in the air as Dominic walked into the room and closed the door behind him with a wave of his wand. A second wave charmed the room so that nothing could be overheard from outside. Fifi sighed.. blowing a smoke ring and refusing to even look her boss in the eye. No doubt he was correct, she hadn't been taking care of herself since the Rally, instead leftover bottles and plates of untouched food remained on the table from where she had grown hungry but not quiet managed to will herself to eat.
Dominic of course looked in well health and good spirits.. as always.. however his stern expression and set of his shoulders meant that it was going to be another of 'those' conversations. Much like the one that had happened the first time the reports of Dunena Reid's apartment being burnt down, and her subsequent unauthorised arrival in Australia had been.

"At least I look like something.. what of you with your blank face and perfume.. is it that Cherry Clingers or did she reject you and you had to find another little piece of American arse to occupy your time?" Fifi turned towards him, a little proud of her pun as she crossed her legs before him, there was no point trying to hide her body from Nicci, he knew it and her to a degree that in some senses scared her. But on the flipside as far as she knew she was the only one to know his 'little' secret. Fifi knew exactly the buttons to push as Dominic slammed a fist against the table and stood up to face her.
"Dammit Fifi what the hell happened? Why wasn't I told that someone was playing Reid?"
Fifi just took a long drawn out drag of her cigarette "I was not sure" she just replied, as if it was a good enough reason for anything. "I told you about the documents.. what more was I supposed to do?" Fifi gasped as Dominic grabbed her shoulder, dragging her to her feet.
"You are very...very.. lucky that the Greenwitch girl managed to spin this.. now I'm going to ask you very.. clearly.."
"Just ask for fuck sake and be done with it!" Dominic stated as Fifi squirmed in his grasp she recieved a slap for that bit of disobedience.
"Who the hell was the idiot? and don't try to lie to me Fifi, I am already at the end of my patience!" Dominic was clearly furious, even Fifi knew that she had crossed a line and while she had resolved to not tell anything there was a matter of scolding in his voice that even Fifi couldn't disobey. "His name is Marty Harper.. he is.. no one.. unimportant..." Fifi was shaking, ash dropping onto the polished floor from her cigarette as she turned her back on Nicci "I do not know why he was there, he said that he was employed by someone.. last time I saw him he was in Australia and helped when my Portkey was damaged" Fifi shrugged "he was nobody, just a Muggle out for a walk". Dominic was silent, Fifi figured he would calm down now that he had what he wanted.
He always did, Fifi knew that because one way or another Nicci always got what he wanted of her. "So you are telling me that some random Muggle you found in Australia just happened to come across Dunena Reid holding a photo of yourself and decided to wade in to defend your honour?" The idea was laughable, Dominic wasn't believing a word of it.
"I do not know why he did that.. all I know is he said that his boss sent him to the rally to observe..he mentioned something of research and looking into.. he said she had made it clear to just observe". It had taken relaying those words to Nicci for Fifi to realise the full brunt of them, sitting down on the bed it was like all the energy she'd been working towards fighting Nicci just gave up right there. Marty had been at the rally because he had been told to be there. Could it have been that he'd lied when they had first met? That he had been in that field not because of chance but because whoever 'she' was had ordered him to that position. Fifi didn't need Nicci to tell her she'd been played.
"I'm sorry Nicci..." Fifi tapped ash from her cigarette into a empty wine glass beside the bed. "I will make it up to you I promise.." it was times like these that Fifi couldn't help but wonder what her parents would think if they could see her now, the shame wasn't nearly as bad as Nicci's next words. "Get up, clean up and I'll see you in France.. we'll discuss this 'She' later" the dismissive tone in his voice hurt more then anything. Fifi didn't know what it was that Nicci would do now, but she feared for Marty.. even though she couldn't trust him not to have been a plant from day one. She couldn't believe that she could have been so blind and off her mark to not even see herself being played. Either Marty was innocent, or he wasn't. Whatever the answer Fifi wasn't about to let Dominic get to him first. She had made this mess, now she was going to deal with it one way or another.
