It's what's inside that counts (Ianto)

Sam had as always left with the first sound of dawn, already her sensitive ears where picking up the songs of a new day, one that would be warmer then the previous. Climbing down from her treehouse she waited until she had stepped outside of the school land to put a piece of cloth over her head to hide her face and ears from the sun as much to avoid the unintentional attention from Muggles. There certainly was a lot more of them these days Sam had found, maybe it was the better keen that attracted them to this part of the world for there was no question that the keen under her bare feet was richer then the dry bushland that she had grown used to further north. Of course nothing would compare to the dense noise of the rainforests that she had grown up in, she missed her homeland deeply but a outcast now she was as she crisscrossed fields on her way to the water to drink and swim before the light of the day grew too much for her fine skin to take without burning.
She had thought the first time she had come to the lake that the deep blue water reflecting off the sky was a boon, high from the city she could wash herself free of the dust and dirt that clung to her skin, only after her first sip did she realise that it was touched with toxins. Only a few mountain springs she had found to be devoid of the rot. Each visit took a day of her life away, she knew that even as she resurfaced in the cold water, she knew now that it was not wise to drink without charming it first. Avoiding the muddy bottom of the lake she climbed up the rock bank waiting to dry off in the sun before starting her return journey. By the time she got back to the school her feet where filthy but she felt better for her morning swim as she wished good morning to those who came across her path.
Soon the school would be full of voices and children again Sam had been told, she felt sad to know that some of her students would not be returning but one thing she had learnt about human children was that there would always be more. Until that time Sam did not have much to occupy her days, she went in to look on the plants from time to time to see that they where growing well and visited the herb farm when she was not required at the school. Today however her thoughts turned to the one called Ianto as she came to watch him at his work, he did disquiet her for while they where of similar kind so far he had for the most part avoided her and she him since he had almost blown up the school by using the wrong magics. "Quel amrun Earendil Ianto*" she said craning her head up to better look at the half elven man. "What is it that you are doing?" because like all wild things Sam had a insatiable curiosity about the world around her, she had come to learn that the ways of the Earendil could be even stranger then that of humans, so many seemed to live in denial of their heritage that it did sadden Sam even more then the children who for one reason or another could never wrap their minds around her kinds magic and lore.

Ianto was working in the grounds of the school preparing for the up coming new year of school. Ianto was finding work to be a fantastic way of getting away from his sister who was the most annoying person in the world who failed to see why he need to stay away form home forever.
But the worst part was having to keep the glamor up all day every day it was a real drain on his magical energy and just annoying as he was just starting to get used to his ears and the magic he could now feel and use from time to time and now he had to just forget about it till Tamika got bored and goes home.
It was as Ianto worked he heard a voice speaking elven it was it was not common elven that he was used to and knew some of from school it was old elven Ianto knew most of what she was say it was a greeting through he was sure what the term she applied to his name meant and then she went on in English asking about what he was doing.
"umm just tidying the gardens up some before school starts" Ianto said as he turned to face Sam the only elf on staff at Gippsland Grammar, well full elf because he was kinda sort of elf himself not that anyone knew.
" And Quel Re* Sam" Ianto Greeted her in elven.

While Sam had never thought to ask how Ianto had come to the school, assuming it was much the same story as her own journey though farm and bushland to find a new place to set roots. "This is very good place is it not?" Sam asked as she pushed the headscarf she was wearing down so the sun could dry her damp hair. That and the muffled effect of having fabric in the way of her ears was none too comfortable. Sam hated having to hide what she was, from conception she had been gifted with the love of her people, pretending to be human was as much like a bird pretending to be a fish. You could only do it for small bursts before the air would run out and feathers would sink and get waterlogged. Sam had tried to pretend to be something she was not, it had lasted for awhile but in the end the truth of her nature won out regardless. Listening to Ianto's strange accent she turned her head to the side "are they not already?" Sam didn't understand the meaning of 'untidy' to her eyes the plants where wonderful when at their most chaotic. "Amin does not understand, they do grow as they are and yet humans constrain them, it is very strange that they do seem to like this 'tidy'" Sam said, she was getting better at small talk but still could not quite manage to keep quiet about things that upset or confused her. Tact was a skill she was probably never going to understand.
"Amin likes when school begins, it is very quiet without the young witches" Sam admitted, while she was able to go for a long time alone there was a element of her that always craved for others to be around. Tying her headscarf around her waist she looked up in surprise as Ianto returned her greeting in her own tongue. "Ed' i'ear ar' elenea! You speak my words?" Sam asked, her voice astonished at hearing anyone but herself and the couple of students she was endeavoring to teach speak in her tongue. "Amin did not know that, who was your teacher Ianto..laito.. Ianto..." out of the blue Sam started giggling as she noticed the similarity in the two words. Was Ianto a child? Sam turned her head up to look at him again, certainly he was much taller then any elves she had known, but that was mostly because of the human blood no doubt. "laito is old word, it means child.. how old are you?" Sam was never one to take things at face value, and certainly to her opinions such questions where not rude at all, more a necessity when amongst people who aged so slowly that it was often tricky to tell age by appearance alone.

Ianto placed down the tools he was using on the plants as he turned and looked at professor Sam.
"We like to control the uncontrollable us humans we strange like that" Ianto smiled at the word human. Sam continued to speck of her wish for the students to return.
" I like the quiet is nice" Ianto like the quiet now and being alone. " yes elven I speck some used to use it all the time when I was younger. I never knew then why he taught me maybe he knew I don't know" Ianto shock his head to stop himself from saying more, it was then that Sam started making random words from his name when she continued on with the question of his age.
" we'll I guess to you I am a child. I'm 23" Ianto was sure he should have been upset at her asking but he knew from his childhood that elves didn't age the same as humans.
" Why is it that..." Ianto started to ask he wanted to ask about being and elf why he was well he didn't know what he wanted to ask anymore everything and nothing.
" never mind" Ianto waved his hand. He went back to fussing with the plants then turned " how do you control it?" Ianto ask so quickly he was sure it made no sense. He just wanted to know how she controlled the magic now he could feel it and knew it was there it was like he was always fighting and keeping up the glamor was so trying and he just need to know how to get control and be Normal like everyone else. It was as he asked her his glamor flickered as if to demonstrate his point. Ianto did not do it on cue but there it was a flicker they been happen more often since Tamika had come to live with him but this was the first time in front of any one tho.
Ianto turned around and focuses on control and keeping the glamor in place.

"Amin thinks it is most horrible" Sam said with a shudder at the memory of the destruction humans had caused on their quest for 'neatness' "and Amin do know you are not human, you are of Earendil yes but human you are not." Sam was quite firm on that one, while she might skunk around the Ministry personal when they came to visit Sam was proud of who she was and could not understand why Ianto would say that he was anything but what he was. "Quiet?" Sam said as if she'd never come across the thought. Certainly there was always noise, from the sound of the birds calling to one another to the soft whispers of the wind ripping though the dry eucalyptus leaves and against the roof of her treehouse. Closing her eyes for a moment she focused on her ears, the rainforest had always been full of noise so the soft sound of bees collecting nectar to store in the strange wooden boxes where hypnotizing against the whisper of wind running though the close cropped grass near the school. Somewhere snakes would slither and mice hid underground, there where few rabbits thanks to a certain persons obsession and along the boundaries a slight ripple from where the charms hid the sight of the school from prying eyes.
Curious to learn more of others of her kind Sam would have pried further where she not to get distracted by the fact that Ianto's name had a near match in her own language. Nodding that Ianto was quite young she fiddled with the hem of her dress before giving Ianto a pearly smile "This yen Amin will be two-hundred and twenty seven.. it is a good age yes?" since she had been forced by the Ministry to find employment Sam had always been rather light on the details of her life, usually because they slipped her mind but some she found caused humans to act very strange. While she had outlived more then three generations of humans it all felt so quickly that they seasons had gone by, so much she had done and yet there was so much still for her to do before she might one day find her own way to the ageless lands. To think it had been more then two hundred years since she had turned Twenty-three. So much of the first hundred years of her life had passed seemingly in a blink of an eye. Though if she put her mind to it she could recall each and every day spent within the valley's they had called home.
Something seemed to be disturbing the young Earendil, Sam narrowed her eyes in thought for a moment "It?" Sam was puzzled, but maybe he was asking for learning? Sam had gotten quite used to some of the strange requests the human children made from time to time. Looking up at Ianto Sam could sense the energy, 'Corm' as her people called it wavering. Being of magic by nature she was sensitive to the flows of magic just as a compass was to the invisible forces of magnetism that made it point north, it was why Elves had so much trouble with iron and being enclosed by metal, because it cut her off from the 'world' and the reassuring feeling of knowing her place within it. "Amin does not know what you speak of" she said carefully, was it that he knew how it was that she had come to be required to find work? That unpleasant incident with the pigs was sure to haunt her no matter how far from the Ministry she hid.

Ianto was focusing on keeping the Glammer in place when she said He was not Human Ianto quickly glanced around to make sure no one was around and herd what sam had just said.
"PLs don't say that to loud I can't, they don't..." Ianto was so scared of being caged merlin his head hurt it was hurting so much when the elf woman advised him of her age Iano knew elves lived a long time but did that mean he was going out live everyone he knew now. it was that thought that broken him Ianto did't have many friends but to out live them all.
it was as as that thought crossed his mind that he lost all his focus that he had been hold on to with nothing but sher force of will for the last few days.
His glammer clasped and he was now half an inch shorter and his eyes now had a green hue and his ears were now classic elven.
"How am i surpassed to control this I was raised to be human not this. I don't want to be caged" He said so softly that one would have to be listing very closely to hear all of what he said.
Ianto was so Upset that he new he could no control his glammer at the moment.
But for the first time in Months he felt like a weight had been lifted he felt stronger than he had before and much better than he had in Months.
"I can't live like this" Ianto was so lost that he just fell to the ground in a deflated hep.
He just want to have a normal life and his mother had robbed him of that by lying to him and hiding the truth from him and just by having him.

"They do not what?" Sam's eyes caught the sunlight in full as she looked up, blinking she shook her head "Silly Ianto.. of course they do! While they might not see they do know in here" she explained patting her hand against her chest. "All beings at heart do, one must have noticed that yes?" How unlucky Ianto was to not have been taught all this. "Are you not well?" she asked taking a step closer as the young earendil looked quite unnerved. Hummm.. this was quite unusual, Sam had come across a couple of cases of earendil who where either suffering from the blight or in denial of their true nature. One thing about being a long lived race was that paitence was not hard to come by. Without anything else to occupy her Sam could pass her time watching grass grow and be no less happy. Instead she was watching a visual illusion fall apart, of course Sam could feel that all was not well with Ianto though as if a 'now you see me, now you don't' her eyes adjusted to the view in front of her of what was most certainly a earendil. "There you see, feel much better like this yes?" Sam turned her head to the side, comparing his shorter ears and green eyes. He was not of her linage but there was similarities enough to be more of her kind then of the humans.
Crossing her arms for a moment she looked comical, the human posture at odds with her slender frame and unkempt appearance, ears twitching at Ianto's words. "Ed' i'ear ar' elenea!* Admin does wish to control what one is.. human words.. you are already in cage..." uncrossing her arms Sam took two defiant steps forward, with each she seemed to 'grow' taller till she was easily able to tap Ianto on the forehead with a finger "Here!" she whispered before stepping away, the illusion of height disappearing as quickly as it had come. Each breath brought forth more power, renewing her just as the keen beneath her feet and the foods which she ate. It all was a part of her and without it she would be nothing at all. Sam thought Ianto looked much better as himself, denial was one thing Sam could never understand, she had known what she was from the very first stirrings of awareness, how it could be any different was beyond her comprehension entirely.
Ignorant of Ianto's anguish Sam thought it was a game and laid down in the grass to be able to see the sky dotted with a few wisps of cloud. "Yes Amin can, it would be like bird saying it can not fly or fish who do not know how to swim". Corm was nothing but a natural order, to wish for more or deny what one already had been given was all upsets to the delicate balance that held the world in check. Rolling onto her belly Sam looked up at Ianto "Amin thinks you are much improved, it is better to be earendil then human no doubt" Sam most certanly had no doubt whatsoever about that one. While she had met some good humans the fact was that they where few and far between. No it was better to be without the drive for destruction that consumed so much of humanities hearts. "To be kin of Tel'Quessir is something to be honored Amin thinks". After all it wasn't often that her kind chose humans to mate with, the rules where quite strictly against it for any blood mixing was to dilute the entire flow of Corm for all. There was, after all only so much magic to go around.

Re: It's what's inside that counts (Ianto)

Ianto only stared at her as she spoke tho she was right he did feel better his head no longer screamed in paine
" better a cage of my making than the one they would make for me" Ianto mumbled as she tap his forehead Ianto took off his now to long for him coat and placed in on the ground and watched as Sam even at over two hundred years old layer apone the ground like a child.
Ianto decided to join her and sat crossed leged on the grass.
Ianto laught at her advice to be honored to be this.
" it not the way I was raised, hell if the man that raised me knew what I am he would kill me and my mother for it. To be this" Ianto made a hand jester at him self " Is an a front to all he is to all he raised me to be. 'Blood is all and it must be pure' it was his matra it was mine till mother told me the truth and un bond me" Ianto felt another weight lift as he told her this Sam was the first person he had told out loud since returning from wales what seamed like a life time ago.
" you must know what the minstry dose to our kind the meeting, the reporting , the men sent to check on you and the test I won't go thro that I won't let them treat me that way" Ianto let his head fall forward as he spoke knowing that one day no matter how hard he tried he would live like all the others he had ever met shacked to a system that made them less than they were and slowly chocked them.
Merlin everything seamed so much more clear like this everything so much brighter Ianto knew he could not stay this way he would have to put back the glammer and hide away again but for right now he was what he was and nothing was going to change that and he let his hands glide over the grass.
" when I was younger I used to dream of being free of father and his ways now I am more trapped than I ever was" Ianto was lost in a life that he no longer control it was all the same as be fore it was all about family and saving face if he come out as a half elven and gay (what was the elven position on that any way ) he would be that down fall of his mother and sister not that he care all that much at times but they were still family and he did love them in a strange way. His family need his continued sliece and as long as this way all they would ever say is Ianto is traveling and will return when ready.
" this is as it was ment to be I am two haves of nothing so that makes me nothing to both sides" Ianto said as he layer back on the grass soaking up the freedom if only for now.

"Amin do not wish a cage at all" Sam's voice was if anything, defiant towards the people, Magical and Muggle alike who had laid down so many rules on what could be done and where one may go. In reality though Sam lived a idealistic life, fences could be easily leapt or climbed over, boarders where but lines drawn in maps and so with one foot in front of the other there was no real limit to how far she might venture.. even if there had been quite a few angry faces who didn't so much agree. While they might have been two hundred years apart Sam couldn't help but be fascinated by Ianto, for he was not of her kind but neither was he of not. It was all very curious. "Your father is Gorgaerea? Amin hopes you do not share the will to harm" Sam was disturbed even by the thought of one who would threaten to harm their own kin, it was not done in her world.. none the least for the fact that a elven wedding lead to one's very Corm being bound to forever share in both pain and joy. To harm one's chosen was to harm oneself.
"Gorgaerea is true, but he is mistaken.. to kill, eat flesh of other beings.. this is what makes one stained" it was clear by the troubled expression on her face that this was a serious matter to her kind, though of course in even dealing with humans she had outcast herself from the more extremist elves who saw everything humans had brought to the world to be nothing more then a affront to the natural order. "Amin do not think Earendil are wrong, simply unlucky?" Unlucky in that they where not born of full blood with the complete gifts of their race. "Your mother bound you? That is quite impressive" for a human anyway. The fact that the women had come to sleep with one of elven kind was in itself a compliment well and above any such status humans could bestow.
Twitching her ears at the mention of the Ministry Sam looked concerned for a moment before laughing "Oh Aminamin does take care of them" her voice unexpectedly merry "she is very kind and only very few of the Ministry people do come visit" it was clear that she was talking about the Headmistress "Amin thinks they do fear paper" misunderstanding that it was more often a case of having the correct paperwork submitted that made sure the Ministry would not be poking their noses into her affairs. The fact that the school was so far out of the way helped as well. "Amin does not understand, Gorgaerea is not here, the sky is blue the grass is green.. it smells most wonderful" one thing about being long lived was that it helped to be naturally optimistic when you knew that all things passed in time, or at least for Sam. She knew many did not share her hope, instead they did remain tied to the timeless traditions and fears for a race long past it's time. "Amin think you are very much not nothing.." Sam had to think, so much she had read or seen or heard that surely there was something that could explain her feeling that while Ianto was not of either it did not mean he was nothing at all, there was no absolute zero in elven terms. Eventually she picked on it "Amin knows! Ianto you are a grapefruit!" while Sam rarely took meals with the others she did take her share of the fruitbowl after checking that all was 'clean'. "Amin might not be pomelo or a orange but one is no less a fruit", yes because comparing Ianto to that was sure to make him feel better right?

Ianto sat and listened to Sam Talk she had a really nice sounding voice Ianto was feeling really relaxed despite the conversation that he was having with sam usually when he thought about what his mother had done he got really upset and some times things still explode.
Ianto listen trying to work out the elven word she had just used Gorgaerea to describe his Father and had no idea what it ment is elven was not great anymore he hadn't spoken it on a regular bases since he was in school.
"My mother impressive" Ianto made a dismissive gesture with his hand. as the elf continue speaking about eating meat or flesh same thing really Ianto had alway had issue with that but well you didn't say no in his house at school he got away with as much vegetarian food as he dare with tamika around.
"Fear paper! really not any i've meet" Ianto said all the minstary Guy his father knew loved the paperwork and the red tape it made it impossible for anyone to do anything the Ministry didn't want done done.
then she said Gorgaerea again
"Gorgaerea ? Not to sure what that is" Ianto said as he looked around he was sure he heard something then she compared him to fruit.
"Right Grapefruit sure coz in a room full of grapefruits you would pick the deformed one no one likes change or those that a diffrent in my world and anything that is is cast off like a dead branch" Ianto continue with here fruit analogy if only to keep her on the same page as him
No definitely heard something Ianto Jumped up and looked around
"did you hear that someone coming" Ianto may be freaking out about nothing but anyway he grabed his wand and started to cast the glammer again to hide from the truth once again.

"For a human to be chosen by one of our kind yes" Sam explained to Ianto, Elves only took those who where either beautiful, innocent at heart or had some other special something to gain the interest of the otherwise fickle race. Sam thought of Tyler for a moment, she had not thought of him often since they had parted but years felt short to Sam and so she did not feel the need to dwell on what seemed to have only been a very short time ago. Fifteen years was hardly time for a tree to grow tall enough to reach the sun in her eyes. It seemed her turn to learn though as Ianto said that she was wrong, maybe it was just that the Ministry people around here tended to fear paper? Sam might have followed that thread of thought had it not been for a bee passing by. "This is good place" Sam just said instead, the sun warming her skin where she had left it exposed, too long and she would burn but for the moment it was all very pleasant. "How did you come to learn of our language?" Sam asked curious for so few people she had met still knew that her race existed, let alone being able to speak her tongue. For much of her life Sam had lived under the assumption that her people where the last, that none of the other elves had survived the coming of the human era. Yet for Ianto to be born they must have, Sam was rather pleased of this.
Somewhere her people still lived, and while one day she knew humans would come to take away their land, turning it into buildings and horrible fake stone somewhere there would be others who would keep their traditions alive. "Gorgaerea is word.. very old word" Sam explained as she sat up, it did not seem right to speak such stories on such a merry day and yet how long it had been since she had spoken of the old ways? "It is said that at the beginning of the world humans and our people did live in much harmony.. humans in their buildings of wood and stone and we in the wild places where the corm was strong." it felt strange for Sam to speak these stories in a human tongue, they did not flow so easily nor carry the weight of battle and blood. "One day it came that the human's saw of us and grew envious for they did not know how to use their Corm in such a way as we could, so they grew fearful and wished for powers of their own. So they asked of us to know and so we did teach but they did wish for more..." Sam's voice took on a cutting edge as she thought about the betrayal "they did not learn and so instead of coming to love the wild they grew fearful, made war with the wild places and with our kind.. we call them Gorgaerea.. the fearful ones" Sam hoped Ianto would understand, if he was to be of their kind it was important for him to learn the lore of their people, the myths and stories making up the rules of what could and couldn't be done.
"Ianto is not deformed" Sam pointed out with a frown, missing Ianto's meaning complacently. "You are not making sense" talk about pot calling the kettle black? "Grapefruit does always grow in the shape nature intended" she insisted "only human does try to make what is what it is not" crossing her arms she nodded as Ianto asked if she heard someone. "It is Li..Marcis... " Sam said after a moment of listening to the familiar far off sound of the Caretaker "..he will be checking on the bees" sure enough her sensitive hearing picked up the sound of curses as yet again Marcus vs Nature sided on the Bee's side. "Amin does not understand why he does bother them so, it just makes them unhappy". A few moments later Sam heard the sound of a door slam. "What is it that you are doing?" Sam asked Ianto in confusion to see him using his wand. Sam herself owned a wand, it was a stick she had carved from a fallen branch, one of many as she had lost quite a number over the years.

Ianto was only half listening as sam asked about when he learned elven.
"Um at school i had a friend and elf that when there i was there he was lucky to get in as they don't let his kind in. you know on account of his being a no human and all." Ianto was well a little cynical in his answer as well she would know how elves are treated better than him as she was out and he was still hiding under his glamor most of the time.
"sound interesting you know wars are what they do order to all things and control what they don't understand" Ianto said as she tried to convince him that he was not some deformed thing that should not be.
"Yep Human love to change things it makes them better and us well this" Ianto waved his hands over him self.
It was strange as he cast his glamor that she would ask what he was doing.
"Casting a spell, you know the glamor to hide i dont really what to get my self or may family killed or tho Tam i could do with out right about now but well that like asking Me to do magic with out a wand its just not going to happen" Ianto completed the spell he was now taller and his eyes and ears were all human looking again.
"so this is my life but better that most I'd say" Ianto Picked up his tools and placed them in the box near the bushes he had been working on before

Sam was for the most part innocent to much of the how the human world worked, so much of it was confusing and made little sense. "Human's are foolish, they do not like what they do not understand and so much they are blind to learn" Sam did not mince words when it came to her dislike, "Was human school like this one?" Sam did not know of the other wizarding schools, to her it seemed strange to have buildings where children where sent away to be taught. She had learned from her people among the land her kind had been gifted to replace that lost. "Our kind, we do not learn in buildings" Sam rolled onto her stomach to glance at one gum tree that had grown a bit taller then the others. The carefully woven wood that made up her hut was just able to be made out from between the leaves moving to and fro in the warm breeze. "Amin does not either, Amin would be much happier to stand amongst the rain and laugh to the wind" her face was a picture of contentment at the thought, so many wonderful storms they had experienced in the mountains yet none of the worrisome brown rivers that spread over the land with the thick scent of mud and decay.
"Gorgaerea look at the world and say that it is but war, they do call it 'survive of the fittest?' Amin does so feel sad for that, they do not see what is more instead they do wish to make what is to what it is not" Sam thought about the parts of the forest that had stood tall since she was young.. her homeland had shrunk so much as the humans explored and logged the wild places to make room for their concrete and houses. "Amin thinks you are much better as you are" Sam stated as she stood up, waving her arms to get rid of the bits of dirt and grass stuck to her hands. Sam could sense the change in Corm as Ianto waved his wand, it was a odd feeling like a breeze that was too soft to feel yet you knew it was there, she could feel it in her heart. Watching as Ianto changed in front of her was rather disorienting for Sam, if she narrowed her eyes and concentrated she saw the same Ianto.. the true Ianto and yet before her he was like Human.
As he stated that to be himself was to be like doing magic without a wand Sam stepped forward, "Wand is but wood.. real magic is of Corm.. it comes from within" to prove her point Sam closed her eyes for just a moment but when she opened them she was both herself but different, her hair had smoothed itself into soft waves and her ears no longer stuck out wide of her head. While she was still shorter then Ianto she was almost as tall as a normal human and even her clothes had changed into something resembling what she had seen other humans females wear. "Glamor is but camouflage, it is not who you are as much as your Corm comes from heart and not the stick you hold". Sam felt stricken, was Ianto as repulsed by her as so many others seemed to be? While her magic was stronger Sam intentionally focused to weaken the enchantment "Focus your mind Ianto Parker, see what you are told not to and there you will find truth" Sam felt alone as she crossed her arms and waited, there was so few of her kind left and no wonder when even those born with their gifts would rather give them away to live like humans.

Ianto was sure sam was right about humans and learning. she went on to ask about Hogwarts.
"Yes all human magic schools are like this. I learned in a building and I'm doing ok, well I do ok now that I'm not bound and stuff" Ianto mumbles the last part. "I'm not so sure about standing in the rain" Ianto like the sound of just laughing at the wind tho. But he hated to look silly or worst crazy he had enough trouble with that after the exploding stuff and well other things.
"Humans are what they are" Ianto really did not want to think about his 'father' kind.
"Hay my wand is Ebony & Birdseye Maple 15 1/4 inches long with a Serpent Scale core it good for defense, reversal, and dispeling of dark magic and purity and healing and is Excellent for cleansing spell" Ianto was very happy with his wand it was pretty and did everything he ever wanted.
Then she closed her eyes and did wandless magic a glamour "Woooww wandless magic that was one art I could never master I was never very good at magic I stuff up almost every spell I try but I good a pitons." Ianto looked to the ground and then back to the very human looking sam who into assumed that most men would think was very attractive.
" I need this camouflage my family I have to protect them" Ianto listened to her say to focus on what he had been told and about truth.
"That makes no cents sam, I mean what dose that mean" Ianto looked at sam thro his human eyes

Sam's eyes narrowed at the mention of Ianto being bound, for Sam such was unthinkable, to have one's freedom taken away was the very worst thing that could be done to another. It took great amounts of magic to bind that of another and of her own people such was only used in the rituals of being wed, where one was forever bound to the other by Corm in both life and death. "What was done to you was very wrong" Sam spoke plainly, her young face troubled beyond her apparent years dwelling on what Ianto had spoken of. "Rain is gift earth brings when she is happy" Sam said with a pleasant smile, her thoughts on the wonders of nature all around her. "But so much she is sad and does wish harm, Admin does worry that Corm is not well for the cycle.. they are not once they where." Sam did worry about that, the freak storms and cyclones had always been part of the cycle of Corm and yet when she had tried to return to her homeland it had been made plain that she was no longer welcome, tainted by her relations with humans and those blamed for causing so much harm to their world.
There was nothing Sam could do but nod in agreeance with Ianto's statement, humans where complicated, she had spent over twenty years among them and yet felt that there where as remote from her as the very first day she had caught sight of Tyler from between two trees while she had been assisting a young frog to move it's children to safety in the canopy. You would think the fact that Ianto shared some of her own races blood would make him easier for her to understand and yet Sam just looked at him, her eyes round in utter bafflement as Ianto spoke of his wand as if it was the source of his magic. Sam like all her kind had been taught from the very beginning that magic was a part of everything, Human's seemed to have confused this to think that the remains of certain trees and creatures would give them the power they so lacked. To prove her point she had no wand at hand. "Wand is but a tool, it is crutch for human to focus their Corm.. our kind have no such need". Sam shrugged and raised her hands to show that there was nothing to hide. "Wands, potions they are just other ways of taking Corm.. but it is that within from where the real power does come" stepping forward she placed a hand lightly against Ianto's chest.
Sam had noticed that Ianto was very fit but he gave no indication to be interested in her physically so she backed down and sighed as Ianto said she made no sense, to her she made perfect sense it was just that others where not so good at following along! "You are not looking properly Ianto" Sam stepped back a few paces, crossing her arms she was not so good at waiting for people to 'get her drift'. "Look not with your eyes but with your heart, let all your senses take control and they will tell you the truth even when eyes do not" Glamor was after all a trick of the eye and mind, unlike a true transformation it did nothing but trick the senses into seeing what was not. "Trust in your heart and Corm for it is what makes you you" Sam hoped he did understand for it was a most important key point to finding comfort, if one did not know who one was, how could one manage to do anything of worth? Sam considered herself for a short moment, so much she had done in her short two hundred and so years and how much the world too had changed. "Amin does wish that there was more of our kind" Sam spoke softly "there is not so many left we are.. endangered?" her voice soft on the question that worried her most of all, would she outlive her own people to see them go extinct like so many other wonders of the past? Sam did not know, she was still very young and as the elders would no doubt say 'Re caele sai-istimuva'*.
*She had much to learn
There was nothing Sam could do but nod in agreeance with Ianto's statement, humans where complicated, she had spent over twenty years among them and yet felt that there where as remote from her as the very first day she had caught sight of Tyler from between two trees while she had been assisting a young frog to move it's children to safety in the canopy. You would think the fact that Ianto shared some of her own races blood would make him easier for her to understand and yet Sam just looked at him, her eyes round in utter bafflement as Ianto spoke of his wand as if it was the source of his magic. Ianto was standing and looking at Sam as she spoke he listen to her about how wrong what had been done to him by his mother but said nothing.
" I have never learned with out a wand in my hand. I dont think my 'corm' is that strong" Ianto was so sure he was never going to be a great wizard or and elf.
Sam went on about her strange saying.
Ianto decided to close his eyes and look as she sergested he search with his memory all thing he could remember seeing before he closed his eyes.
This was not really working thro he was sure as he open his eyes he saw her glowing but then it was gone.
She told him that eleves We're Endanger.
" what do you mean the minstry in England have hundreds on there magic creates book as elven I know becouase father is very involved in the serpention of all there rights" Ianto was sure father had said they were going to over run them if he was not careful to control
" but if you are right how will I ever be apart of them as you say"

Sam couldn't help but shake her head at the silliness of Ianto "You are as strong as any human and more" to think that he thought himself inferior "it is in your blood and the gifts of Corm you have been blessed to have to be much if you do so desire" Sam herself could have easily walked into the Ministry of Magic and demanded the Minister give all beings equal rights, she could have enchanted or put fear into the hearts of many and yet here she was, standing in a field in a town few even knew the name of. There had been tales enough of Elves who had gone bad and wished to enslave or control others, some in the magical community had even tried to blame the winds of nature upon that of her people. 'Pointyears' they called them. Sam had not heard the expression until she had tried to settle down with Tyler into a quiet magical community, at first she had not thought glamor necessary and then it became all too clear that she would not survive among humans and look so different.
Teaching Ianto the beginnings of how to truly see she did then shudder at the mention of the Ministry before her look became hostile at learning that Ianto's father was one who did draw lines between what people of her kind could and could not do. "Amin does not trust in books.." Sam retorted before scratching behind her ear. "Books do tell only of what is known and not of what is, they do only take record so that they might claim land and take it" Sam twirled, her anger making her restless and unable to stand in one place. "We are not what we once where.." she said slowly as she cooled down, sadness weighing her heart "once our land did stretch all the way from the mountains to the sea.. then the humans did come.. they took and then they took more until there was no room for our kind and so some died, some fought, some turned and forgot our ways and some fled". If Ianto was to truly be of their kind then he would have to learn the stories of how it was the world came to be as it was. It was Ianto's last question that pained Sam more then anything she had ever felt "Amin.... does not know" and blinking she felt her heart sore in the knowledge that Ianto would never be accepted by her people... and neither for that matter would she. Her kind was a brave race, not known to cry and yet she found her eyes moist at the truth that she was outcast from her people and would not ever swim in the streams nor drink the sweet waters of home. At least Ianto had a chance to fit in with the Modern elves, the ones who held themselves aloof and where often worse then humans. She was unique, a cast off of a species that didn't belong in this place or time.

Ianto was sure sam was just being nice when she said he was stronger that most as Ianto knew he was a weak wizard and that why he was case out of his family even when he was young they only kept him because he was a male hair to the parker name.
"I desire nothing but to be left alone. But my family don't seam to get that" Ianto was sure that was best to be alone.
"I like books" Ianto said weakly "well not these kind of books i don't really want land" Ianto was sure sam was upset by something he said
"Did i say something wrong?" Ianto asked " sound like there were a lot of elf folk then" Ianto said
"I sorry I upset you I didn't mean to, I just get so frustrated about what has been done to me I think if I had know what I was when I was young I would have come to terms with in and gotten to know more of our kind" Ianto was pacing a little to. Ianto really need to deal with the rage and it was rage that he had for his mother if she had told him even when he was a teenager he would have kept her secret even if just to save himself.
